Welcome to the ARA's Licensed Motor Dealer Group

The Automotive Retailers Association was formed in 1951, originally as a gas station owner's association. It was formed to speak for the small independent operator, as the dominant oil companies of the day did not understand these operators’ needs or recognize their hard work.

Today, the ARA has over 1,200 full and associate member companies representing seven different divisions or segments of the automotive industry with the Licensed Motor Dealers Division (LMD) being one of them.

Members of the LMD Division consist of those automotive retailers who are "independent" from those of the Franchise Dealerships who primarily sell new vehicles. Our LMD members are located throughout the province to serve your used car needs. As one of the association's eight divisions, our Licensed Motor Dealer Division members provide consumers with competitive deals, practice business with fair and ethical conduct, and have voluntarily agreed to a Code of Ethics. All our dealer members are licensed and registered by the Vehicle Sales Authority of B.C. (VSA) ensuring they comply with all provincial legislation.
